I realize this could have been reserved for the letter L, but I am not referring to the hitting snooze on your alarm, eating fast food instead of cooking kind of laziness. I am referring to fatal laziness in a way that can also be described as burnout…
I oversee rentals every week. Typically this is a great 4 hour block to get paid to do homework, prepare emails, study and catch up on my week. Today though, I am going on my fourth hour of staring at my phone aimlessly.
I want to nap, go out, quit school, finish school and drink the largest cup of coffee ever all at the same time! I do not condone this level of severe laziness, but I do understand it.
Here’s what I do before I give myself the weekend off:
1. Know your schedule for the following week. Which is much easier if you were organized to begin with. If you’re not sure, sit down and input everything you can think of. Any.do is a great app for that.
2. Do what’s due Monday. Whether it is work, or school, or life, Mondays suck. Take an hour and reduce the stress by doing whatever will be too much to do in a rush on Monday.
3. Have a reason. If you took the whole week off… what are you burned out from? Start one easy thing and see if it’s enough to motivate yourself to finish your plans.
4. Do it right. Besides staring at your phone, look up things you can do. Check your email for Redbox coupons, scrounge for loose change and buy ice cream, or contact friends and go out. Don’t waste a lazy day, or you won’t feel as rejuvenated as you should.
